G’day, I am Reese Halter:
I love this planet. I have dedicated my life to learning, serving, defending Mother Earth and leading. I am a decorated PhD scientist and a compassionate vegan. Arcata’s counter-culture community and progressive politics are robust. We embrace kindness and simple living.

I stand for: Removing big corporate money from politics and allowing the people’s voice to be heard and their wants to be fulfilled, AI guardrails, fiscal responsibility, transparent governance, caring for the elders, ensuring no child, family or elder is hungry, an aggressive 2035 carbon reduction climate plan, personhood rights (laws protecting) nature, caring for animals, expanding greenspaces, increasing affordable housing (tiny home communities), Contentment Index, robotics regulations, implementing more edible greenspaces and a food forest, eliminating plastic waste and other poisons, and promoting a fair living wage for all workers.

My good friend Reese Halter has my vote for the City of Arcata Council. Reese is a wise human being not frightened to tackle either the local or global problems facing us all. Author, environmentalist and, above all, doer, Reese is everyone’s antidote to the corruption, greed and short-sighted politics of our day. But there’s a hitch: I’m in Tasmania, so I can’t vote for him. Please do me a little favour, and yourself a very big favour and, this time, vote one Reese Halter.

I’ve known Dr. Reese Halter for almost 25 years, at first in my professional capacity as a producer for NBC News, and later as a personal friend.
If I had to use one word to describe Reese, it would be passionate. That’s what first drew me to him when I booked him for television, to discuss climate change and other subjects related to the environment. I always knew that he would deliver, that he would bring not only knowledge of the topic, but also the passion needed to make a great TV interview. And he always did!
What made us good friends, though, were our personal conversations over the years on myriad issues in the news, and the fact that Dr. Reese’s passion was always there, and it was always for the right cause: The environment, humane treatment of all human beings and animals, and a desire for common sense government, honest, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the people.
I heartily endorse Reese Halter for a seat on the Arcata City Council. The community would greatly benefit from his wisdom, his stellar reputation, and above all, his passion for the truth!
